Justice and Inclusion Q&A Conversation
April 12 at 10:30 (following our ONE worship service at 9:30)
Join the Justice and Inclusion team for a time of question and answer conversation. This new team is dedicated to accompanying the congregation in the process of becoming Reconciling in Christ. The first step in this journey will be you telling us what you think. What you love about this church, what you want to learn more about, any ideas you have about how we can be more welcoming. This forum is one way to hear from you and to learn more about the process. The starting point is here and now - not from scratch, but standing on the shoulders of all this beloved community has already done in welcoming the stranger, and moving forward from there. For more information please below or email jaiteam@glconline.org.
Green Team Presents Fossil Fuel Divestment April 19 at 9:45
Join Gethsemane’s Green Team and a speaker from Interfaith Power and Light on Sunday, April 19. During this forum we will discover the powerful history of divestment movements and the role they can play in stopping fossil fuel projects. Learn how communities and individuals can divest their bank and retirement accounts from destructive industries and invest instead in just, clean energy solutions. For more information please email Kyle Bresin at kyle@bresin.com.
Community Care Fund and Mutual Aid April 26 at 9:45
Have you heard the term “mutual aid” and wondered what exactly that means? Join Pr. Lydia and Emma Rifai on Sunday, April 26 to explore some basic concepts surrounding mutual aid. Caring for and helping one another is a vital element of Beloved Community, and Gethsemane’s Community Care Fund has helped so many of our neighbors. For more information please email Pr. Lydia at lsvenulski@glconline.org
MONDAY BIBLE STUDY
10:00 AM IN THE FIRESIDE GALLERY
Join Pastor Amy Mondays at 10:00 AM for a Bible Study focused on the coming week's Lectionary Texts. Together we read, reflect, share, and learn as the Holy Spirit leads.
INSIDE THE TEXT
WEDNESDAYS ONLINE
Each week one of our pastors shares a short Bible study video on the gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday. Read along and learn some of the unique points of the scripture with historical context, literary criticism, and theological interpretations of the text. Learn why the preacher lifts up certain points of the text and how they fit themes we are focusing on at church. These lessons will enhance your ability to hear the Sunday sermon in a whole new way.=
Men’s Ministry encompasses all men of Gethsemane, young and old. It provides Christian growth and fellowship opportunities to our congregation and community. The purpose of Men’s Ministry is to encourage Christian discipleship through four different areas of our lives: faithful worship attendance, living in God's word, serving Christ's church and the world, and fellowship with other male identifying people in our community.
MEN'S GOLF LEAGUE
Thursdays from May to September
The Gethsemane Golf League is going strong! Our groups play at Glen Lake Golf Course in Minnetonka every Thursday; first tee time is usually around 9:00 AM. If you are interested in participating this year and would like to be on the weekly email for sign-ups, please email Dick Larson at dick.larson44@gmail.com or call him at (952) 240-1006.
Gethsemane's budding women's ministry is for all women, girls, and femmes looking for a place to belong and explore the theology of the Divine Feminine and the power of Christ's incarnation as carried and shared by women like Mary Magdalene, the Holy Mother, and even us. Throughout the year we gather to celebrate and honor the elements of creation - earth, water, fire, air - through contemplation and communal ritual at the fall and spring equinoxes, and more in-between.
Gethsemane's OWLS (Older, Wiser Lutherans) ministry is geared toward people 55+ but all are welcome. These events provide opportunities for fun, socializing, entertainment, food, and more! Contact parish nurse Susan Radde for more information.
