As followers of Jesus, we are called to serve! At Gethsemane, you will find many ways that you can answer this call to serve and put your faith into action.
As you explore this page, you will find many ways to serve through Gethsemane. Training is provided for all serving opportunities. Take a look around, and then prayerfully consider where God might be calling you.
Weekend Worship
WORSHIP AND HOSPITALITY TEAM
Greeter
Stand at entrances and say a friendly greeting to welcome people. Offer directions as needed.
Usher
Greet people outside the sanctuary, assist latecomers, collect offering, and usher people for Holy Communion.
Reader
Read provided scripture verse(s) from the lecturn or pulpit during worshi. View Bible pronunciation guide.
Communion Server
Assist the pastors and worship leaders in serving Holy Communion.
Coffee Hour Hospitality
Each month we have an area of ministry or hospitality tribe help serve coffee.
Children/Youth/Family
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School Teacher
Welcome children into the classroom, help children get settled, participate in the opening worship alongside children. Lead and encourage a small group of children through Bible stories, fellowship, and activities. Lesson and materials provided for you.
CONFIRMATION
Small Group Guide
Volunteer to help support Gethsemane's Confirmation Ministry. Lead confirmation students in small group discussion about the highs and lows of their week and the lesson they heard earlier in the evening.
YOUTH EVENTS
Adult Chaperone
Interested in a lock in, mission trip, canoe trip, or backpacking excursion. Our youth need adult support on these incredible trips, and you could be one of them.
ALTAR TEAM
Members of the altar team care for the materials and supplies used to decorate our sanctuary. Each season of the church year has a designated color, and Gethsemane has paraments (altar, pulpit, lecturn cloths) and banners for each season. The team also helps set up decor for Advent, Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter.
TRANSPORTATION TEAM
Provide transportation for members who wish to attend worship on Sunday morning.
TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT TEAM: VIDEO OPERATOR
Control what the live and online audience sees. Operate a digital video switcher, and cameras, and control when the lyrics/slides go up from the graphics operator.
