What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God.

Need of the Month

We organize a congregation-wide collection of items to support the identified needs of various community organizations; e.g., school supplies, food, holiday toys, personal care items and children’s books.

Habitat for Humanity

Gethsemane provides work teams for local Habitat home-building projects.

Housewarming Project

We facilitate delivery of gently-used home furnishings and clothing to support local families moving to more adequate housing. We work in partnership with Reach & Restore, an area non-profit.

Dinner at Your Door (Meals on Wheels)

Two days each month, we provide delivery volunteers for a community program supplying midday meals to shut-ins.

People Serving People

Twice each month, Gethsemane volunteers serve a meal at People Serving People, a Minneapolis shelter for homeless families. Sign up here to volunteer

Fair Trade Coffee Project

We support this Lutheran World Relief initiative by serving Equal Exchange coffee at fellowship time and selling it on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

Social Justice Dialogue

We encourage respectful discussion and promote balanced education about issues related to social justice. Each summer, we host monthly Community Town Hall Forums.

World Mission

We organize support for initiatives such as Bread for the World, ELCA Relief and Development, ELCA Good Gifts, and Gethsemane’s El Salvador partnership.
