After School for Kids (A.S.K.) is a free weekly program of activities, homework support and a family dinner, run by Gethsemane volunteers and offered for 3rd-6th graders from our neighboring elementary school. View a slide show of the 2008-09 ASK program.

Dinner at Your Door is a community program supplying meals to shut-ins. Volunteers deliver meals once a month.

Simpson Shelter Serving is an opportunity to provide and serve a meal at a Minneapolis Homeless Shelter. Volunteers from Gethsemane work in a small group to do this for one Sunday supper each month.

Housewarming Project is an initiative to provide families transitioning from homelessness to housing with used furnishings for their families' new home.

Habitat for Humanity
Gethsemane provides work teams for local Habitat home-building projects. See a slide show of the crew in action.

Intercongregation Communities Association (ICA) and ResourceWest
Gethsemane helps support these agents of practical and emergency help for the west metro area.

Need of the Month
The congregation generously supports a variety of needs brought to their attention by the Social Ministry Team such as school supplies, food, books, and items for crisis nurseries.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner is prepared for members of the congregation and community who wish to attend.

Other Social Ministry initiatives include Fair Trade Coffee sales, annual Memorial Blood Drive and promoting discussion of issues related to justice.
