Kids will experience foot washing, carrying of the Cross, the Last Supper and more.
Crafts, games and a pizza lunch round out the morning. This is a great way for grandparents to share Gethsemane with their grandchildren. Mark your calendar and make this a part of your Easter traditions!

Gethsemane’s annual Children’s Ministry Communion Retreat was held last weekend. Eighteen fifth graders and their families spent Friday night and all day Saturday at the Raddison Hotel in Plymouth. Pastor Laurie and Tiphanie organize the event to include both serious teachings about this important sacrament and family fun!
Everyone gets a chance to learn and ask questions about communion. The kids study scripture, sample bread and wine used in communion, and even bake their own bread for Sunday’s service. In between learning; time is made for family meals, games, and swimming. The retreat ends with a traditional Seder Supper on Saturday evening.
Everyone attending this event comes away with a better understanding of Passover, the Last Supper, and the sacrament of Holy Communion. Pastor Laurie’s gift for teaching makes this a very special Stepping Stone event.

“Let your Light so Shine……”
That’s what we say to the newly baptized as we present to them their baptismal candle. Parents and Godparents stand by and, in cases of infant baptism, speak on behalf of the baptized, receiving the great gift of new life that is promised in that sacrament. But once the ceremony is over, what is the role of a Godparent in the life of a child?
If you are a godparent and have ever wondered what you should or could be doing for your Godchild, Camp Onomia has an event just for you. Bring your Godchild (or Godchildren) to camp April 4 – 6, 2008 and spend some quality time together, learning more about each other and the faith you share. Through a variety of programs and activities Godparents and Godchildren will strengthen the bond of faith and love that ties you together. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to have an impact on the young people in your life. You might be surprised by the impact they will have on you!
What: Let Your Light So Shine: A Retreat for Godparents and Godchildren
When: April 4-6, 2008
Where: Camp Onomia
Cost: $75 adults, $55 youth (6-18), free for children under 6
Questions: Call 1-320-532-3767 or visit camponomia.org

Arts Alive!….A day at the circus
The elephants, mice, and sea lions have gone home. All that remains is the smell of popcorn and cotton candy stuck to the floor. The kids will sleep soundly tonight after a day filled with crafts, acting, and fun. A big thank you goes out to all of the adults and youth who helped Tiphanie make this special event a big success!
Arts Alive may be over, but those of you who could not make it to the show can still enjoy the pictures.

This summer we would like to provide our elementary school-aged kids with an opportunity to attend Green Lake Bible Camp. As many of you know from personal experience, Bible camp is an incredible venue for a child to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus, to meet new friends, and have a lot of fun.
Some of us can remember when camp was less than $100 to go for an entire week! Well, the cost of living has increased since then – and so has the cost of camp. This summer, Green Lake Bible Camp will cost about $315 per child. This is a lot of money when there is one child to send, yet alone two…or even three.
Here at Gethsemane, we never want to deny an opportunity to a child because of finances. So this year we will be offering “camp scholarships” to help offset the cost of attending camp. And that is where you come in…we need your help in blessing some of our families who would otherwise be unable to send their child(ren) to camp.
If you would like to give towards our Camp Scholarship Fund, or if you are able to “sponsor” a whole child, please consider donating money by writing a check to Gethsemane and putting “Camp Sponsorships” in the memo line. Thank You!

Family Ministry bowling night at the Park Tavern was a big success. 21 families (totaling nearly 100 people) attended and bowled the night away. Pizza and pop fueled the event and there was even a surprise birthday celebration for one of the bowlers.
A big Thank You to Krista Furan for organizing all the fun.

It is that time of year again for kids to think about what artwork they would like to display at the annual Kid’s Art Show. The Kid’s Art Show and reception will be held at Gethsemane, between services, on February 3, 2008. We will accept all art mediums: painting, sculpture, textiles, writing, and drawing – even media art; videos, power points or music that has been composed on garage band. I would love to see all of the Sunday school kids participate!
Each child can display up to two pieces. Art work can be brought to the church office between January 20 and January 27. Please label the art with the Kids Art Show labels found at the receptionist desk. If you have any questions please call Tiphanie at 952-935-1753 ext. 115.
