Pastor Susan Peterson will speak to us about her congregation’s “welcoming and affirming” journey. Pastor Peterson is the Senior Pastor of Gloria Dei Lutheran in St. Paul where, through Bible study, discussion, classes, and a “whole lotta prayer,” they have emerged as a truly welcoming congregation.

All kids between the ages of 3 and 11 are invited to swing on in for Rainforest Adventure Vacation Bible School July 27-Aug 1! We will listen to great stories about Jesus, make cool crafts, sing fun songs, play zany games, and make a jungle of friends!

A congregational meal will be offered each evening at 5:30 p.m. and the VBS program will begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

Arden Haug visit

Arden Haug, a former associate pastor at Gethsemane, will be speaking at our Wednesday night worship service on August 6th.

Arden has been serving a call to Global Missions in Lithuania for three years. He is currently the ELCA Global Mission Regional Representative for Europe and will be speaking about his work and the work of the Lutheran church Europe. His family is living in Bratislava, Slovakia, but they will be traveling back to Minnesota in August to visit friends and family, and share their work with the larger church.

Please join us for dinner at 5:30 p.m., worship at 6:30 p.m., and a brief reception following.

Lutheran Night at the Twins

Many Gethsemane members and friends have enjoyed the Minnesota Twins game during the annual Lutheran Night at the Twins. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is again sponsoring this event on Tuesday, August 19, at 7:10 against the Oakland A’s.

Seats are available at discounted prices with lower level reserved tickets at $21 (regular price is $30). Again this year $1 from every ticket goes to Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity to help improve lives for Minnesota families.

The best seats will go early. Call Sally Haugen at 952-935-5611 as soon as possible if you plan to attend. No reservations will be accepted after noon on Friday, July 18.

If you would like to represent Gethsemane in singing the National Anthem with other Lutheran singers, contact Sally.
