On February 22, sixteen of our adult members will be leaving for Biloxi, Mississippi to work with Habitat for Humanity’s effort to rebuild homes in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Bethel Lutheran Church in Biloxi will host our group. The team will need your prayers and financial support. It will cost about $400 - $450/person for transportation and lodging in Biloxi. We would also like to leave a financial gift for Bethel’s ongoing Katrina relief effort.

If you have a heart for this work and/or wanted to participate, but could not make the trip this time, the team needs your financial support. You can use the envelopes in the church pews or mail your donation to the church office. Please make your check out to Gethsemane and then mark the memo line for Katrina Relief. Thrivent Financial will match our combined donations dollar-for-dollar up to $300. So the first $300 donated will result in a $600 gift for the mission trip.

The Katrina Mission Team is as follows: Donna Anderson, Bill Arthur, Bob Dummer, Sandi Edenborg, Fred Hedberg, Susan Hedberg, Barb Krig, Margie Olson, Mike Paterson, Bev Paterson, Steve Pavelka, Jeanne Pavelka, Earl Rodine, Lisa Shelstad, Laurie Underkofler and Lori Youngvorst.

Start: 6:00 pm
End: 8:00 pm

Mark your calendars, save your pennies, and work up an appetite for “It’s a Small World”, our 3rd Silent Auction and International Dinner Youth Fundraiser!

If you’ve been putting aside some attractive things you want to donate, please drop them off at church in the next week. Past auctions have seen an awesome variety of hand-made crafts, antiques, re-gifted new electronics, limited edition framed art, sporting event and concert tickets, theme baskets, donated personal services like tax preparation, computer tech help, carpentry, and babysitting, and even weekend use of wonderful vacation homes!

Anybody want to donate some airline miles or health club guest passes, or serve a fancy dinner for eight in your home? If there is something you’re willing to offer but aren’t sure if it fits for our auction, call Bob Windels at 935-1753 x114.

Many of the physical items we receive will be registered on the online auction site, “Ebay”, allowing the whole world to find them and bid on them beginning Sunday, Feb. 24th! A lot of other potential donations of services, or use of personal property, will only be available in-house, with traditional manual pen-and-paper recording of bids in competition with other Gethsemane folks during the week before the dinner event.
