Clergy and Program Staff

John Nelson - Senior Pastor

“Gethsemane has many gifts, both with a highly talented staff and a strong group of spirited lay leaders. I am delighted to be provided the opportunity to work with them. Together I know we will build a strong and united team that is focused on leading the whole congregation in growing deeper in their walk of faith and to reach out to the larger community with the love of Christ Jesus”.

Laurie Eaton - Associate Pastor

“I can think of no greater honor than to serve the ministry of Word and Sacrament as called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit. It is my joy and privilege to be among the people of Gethsemane as Associate Pastor. This is a fun and friendly community with a rich history of faithfully seeking ways to live that are consistent with loving God and neighbor according to the grace poured out in Jesus Christ. There’s a place for you here!”

Tiphanie Dirnberger - Director of Children's Ministry

Children’s Ministry at Gethsemane is all about building and nurturing relationships with classmates, adults and most importantly, God. I have been a member of Gethsemane for 15 years and Children’s Ministry Director for six years. My husband and I have four school-age children. I love my job because it allows me to spend time with kids whose imaginations can be as big as mine! I feel honored to be a part of these kids’ lives as they learn about the awesome power of God. Visit our Children’s Ministry page for more information.

Bob Windels - Youth Director

Bob Windels, our Director of Youth Ministries (A.K.A. “The Youth Guy”), has enjoyed the last 20 years working in Lutheran congregations with teenagers and their parents. A St. Olaf College graduate, he is married and has three teens of his own. He loves how teenage minds work, and he believes the whole congregation benefits from their energy and perspective. Bob is committed to learning and valuing each Gethsemane student’s individual gifts, interests, challenges, and faith journey — and he puts a priority on creating a variety of programs to meet a variety of needs, and having many adults involved in building faith. New faces (young and old) will not be overlooked! As the Lord has blessed him with the opportunity to serve at Gethsemane, Bob will be searching out how you can serve and be served as part of our youth ministry.
